Power cut in one light tower at Wankhede

In a major embarrassment to the organizers, the power went off in one of the four floodlight towers at the Wankhede Stadium when New Zealand were chasing Sri Lanka's total of 265 for nine in the Group A World Cup match here today.

The lights in the tower at the south eastern part of the ground suddenly blinked off soon after the Kiwis lost their seventh wicket with only 115 on the board but play went on and one whole over was completed before the fault was rectified.

Wankhede Stadium is also the venue of the April 2 summit clash of cricket's flagship event.
