Mumbai, Chennai retain four players

MUMBAI: The Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises Mumbai Indians and Chennai SuperKings have retained their quota of four players.

The Mumbai Indians have retained Sachin Tendulkar, Harbhajan Singh, Kieron Pollard and Lasith Malinga. All played a key role in the Mukesh Ambani owned franchise reaching the final in the third edition.

This means that the likes of Zaheer Khan will be part of next year's auction.

Chennai Super Kings have retained MS Dhoni, Suresh Raina, M Vijay and Albie Morkel.

The Royal Challengers Bangalore have retained Virat Kohli. The Kolkata Knight Riders have retained Chris Gayle.

Though it is still uncertain as to whether or not it will take part in IPL 4.0, Rajasthan Royals which got a six week stay on their termination have retained Shane Warne and Shane Watson.

This means that Warne gets at least $1.8 million, a huge raise from what he got earlier ($450,000) should the Rajasthan Royals take part next year. The contracts are for two years and the players can extend it for one more year if they wish.
